THE KINGDOM OF CHEESE – A tasty piece of Västerbotten

In the early 1870’s cheese maker Eleonora Lindström in Burträsk made the ”mistake of a lifetime”, resulting in the “emperor of cheese”, the Västerbottensost. The kingdom of cheese was born, a destination that reaches from coast to inland where history and present go hand in hand.

Within the Kingdom of Cheese interesting places to visit and events are knit together creating an exciting and varied impression. The Kingdom of cheese includes both historical and newly constructed buildings. As a visitor to any of the restaurants in the Kingdom of cheese you can enjoy a menu of Västerbottensost.
